about.
BeReal is a camera‑first social app that prompts users once a day to share unfiltered, real‑time moments with close friends, prioritising authenticity, spontaneity, and low‑pressure social sharing over polished, performative content.
challenge.
BeReal's profiles are central to user identity and social discovery, and this case study involves redesigning BeReal's profile feature, aimed at creating a seamless experience for users exploring their own profiles, friends' accounts, non-friend profiles, and official accounts.
The initial stage focused on understanding BeReal's visual identity and interface patterns. I audited the app to understand current patterns, components, and interactions across user profiles and key flows.
process.
I refined BeReal's existing design system by adjusting typography, spacing, and component states to improve clarity and hierarchy whilst preserving the app's minimal aesthetic.
After defining a structure with consistent margins and layout, I created wireframes to validate flows and hierarchy before moving to high-fidelity screens.
result.
This project showcases end-to-end product design thinking: from auditing an existing system and defining structural foundations to creating scalable, production-ready components.
The refined design system balances authenticity with clarity, demonstrating my ability to respect established brand language whilst improving usability, hierarchy, and design.
